Job Requirements

What can you bring to TD? Tell us about your most relevant experience, credentials and knowledge for this role, as well as these requirements and desired attributes:

  • University degree
  • Eight (8) or more years of related experience
  • Two to three (2-3) years of people management experience
  • Generally a fully qualified Fellow
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of businesses/actuarial specialization and organizational practices
  • Sound to advanced knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships
  • Ability to communicate well in writing and speaking

We\'re looking for someone who will embrace both the people management responsibilities as well as the actuarial project components. This includes the reserving and pricing of insurance products, conducting in-depth analysis and mathematical modelling to help minimize business risk.

This role will be a great fit if you also enjoy the intellectual ability to conceptualize and communicate a strategic vision of the work, team and business objectives ahead, within the context of the Bank and industry.

As an Actuarial Manager, you will:
  • Lead and manage a sizeable team (e.g. resource allocation) in an area of moderate risk, complexity and scope
  • Support and coach team members to stay knowledgeable and develop skills and capabilities to achieve career goals as well as contribute to team, project and business results
  • Manage employees in compliance with all human resource policies, procedures and guidelines of conduct
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other practitioners, business partners and executives; support these functional leaders and partners with sound actuarial advice and knowledge to assist their decision-making
  • Review actuarial analyses produced by the team
  • Ensure an integrated approach with other business areas, broader organization, and enterprise as appropriate
  • Begin to challenge business appropriately ensuring best interest of the organization is considered
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes and controls
  • Participate fully as a member of the team and support a positive work environment
  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and TD, both internally and externally
