We are looking for a business-minded actuary to handle the pricing for personal lines products for strategic partnerships. You are more than a pricing actuary, you understand the demands of an external partner, as well as the ins-and-outs of regulation. You provide excellent actuarial advice and influence decisions using analysis and data. You thrive in a fast-moving environment where your opinion and experience are valued.

This position will also be responsible for providing statistical expertise, researching new pricing methods, and ensuring a smooth implementation of rating plans and algorithm changes across Canada. Additionally, you will be expected to provide actuarial expertise related to product design, corporate planning, and underwriting/segmentation analysis.

The ideal candidate is a strong independent contributor with a curiosity about developing pricing strategies for strategic partnerships. While the role will not officially have direct reports, you will work collaboratively with actuarial and statistical analysts and cultivate a positive and dynamic work environment that values people and achieves outperforming results.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

Directly responsible for actuarial methods and assumptions used as well as the overall pricing of strategic partnerships in personal lines

Develop appropriate systems, processes, and methodologies for analyzing rates and products

Work closely with business partners and other teams in Personal Insurance to develop strategies and deliver pricing changes

Work with Analytics to review and implement new enhanced pricing and segmentation models

Collaborate with regulators and auditors on pricing issues where needed

Mentor junior staff and act as a technical expert and mentor

Ensure all personal insurance products are developed in line with the Product Development and Management Standard, and the Technical Pricing Standard

Obtain a deep understanding of your assigned book of business in particular, and the Canadian business in general, to explain the key factors underlying the emerging experience and to provide strategic insights to stakeholders

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring:

5+ years of personal lines pricing experience or 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience

Strong leadership skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Ambitious spirit, ability to understand business requirements and turn them into actuarial analysis (and vice-versa)

Effective negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus and influence optimally

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience

Hands-on experience in scripting/coding, including in Python and SAS

Superior analytical skills with an insatiable desire to probe, question, validate and challenge to ensure accurate and insightful analysis

Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
