Sector: Dealer Services; Working Environment: Telecommuting; Location: Can be based anywhere in Canada; Status: Student/Co-op (Temporary 8 Months or more); Start Date: January 2024 or in accordance with Co-op terms

Dealer Services is currently looking for a motivated and detail oriented Actuarial Co-op Student to join their close knit team. In this role you will be supporting the Corporate Actuarial team by providing technical support while at the same time getting exposure to diverse projects.

Key Activities
1. Involvement in month-end valuation (10%):

Starting reserves runs

Updating month-end spreadsheets for source of earning and gains and losses analysis

Actuarial analysis as required

2. Special projects (45%):

Profitability studies to determine trends as required

Other projects as needed

3. Support of actuarial functions (45%):

Design and complete surveys as required

Assisting with various reports by assembling required information

Assisting actuarial analysts in a support role as required

Data requests for various members of the Actuarial team as required

Qualifications

Education:

Currently in the process of obtaining a (tertiary) undergraduate degree preferably in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or risk management

Experience:

Manipulating large data sets (including SQL), and previous office experience would be preferred

Knowledge of R (GLMs, Tidyverse) would be preferred

Skills:

Able to follow established procedures

Exceptional attention to detail

Working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office programs

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Highly proficient with numbers
