As an Actuarial Analyst, no two days will look the same. You\xe2\x80\x99ll have the opportunity to play a significant role in ensuring the company\xe2\x80\x99s objectives for profitability are achieved and collaborate with people from various teams from Blue Cross organizations across Canada. You\xe2\x80\x99ll need strong analytical skills and a love for data/analytics.

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will:

  • Create and/or populate actuarial models to price various group life products and revisions;
  • Provide support to the underwriting team for large/complex quotes;
  • Actively collaborate with a multidisciplinary product development team on initiatives related to group products;
  • Communicate with reinsurance partners regarding quotations and technical pricing models and evaluate reinsurance treaties;
  • Support the implementation and testing of new products or product changes in quotation tools and administrative systems;
  • Analyze and monitor the profitability of group insurance products;
  • Continue ongoing enhancements of our internal processes to support our efficiency initiatives.
What you need to succeed:

At least 5 years experience in an actuarial role focused on group life insurance with good knowledge of AXIS. Reinsurance, individual insurance pricing and IFRS-17 experience would also be considered an asset.

Education: ASA/ACIA designation and are pursuing FSA/FCIA designation.

Language Skills: Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset
  • Outstanding knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) professional standards as they pertain to the life and disability business
  • Well versed in insurance and statistical concepts and practices
  • Enjoy working on process improvement & automation initiatives and have experience with building and maintaining business process models
  • Exceptional analytical skills with high attention to details
  • Working knowledge of advanced data warehouse reporting (using SQL) would be considered an asset: Ability to extract, interpret and explain data utilizing moderately complex SQL queries in a complex data environment.
