Wages and Benefits:

Per Collective Agreement: JJEP Grid 12 ($29.17-$33.49 per hour)

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Activity Program Coordinator plans, implements, directs, and oversees day-to-day activities of a program. Encourages and facilitates clients' participation in activities. Participates in program development, program evaluation, and budget reconciliation. Provides direction and leadership to activity/support workers in achieving client goals related to activity programming. Provides relief supervisory duties in the absence of the Program Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:



Plans, implements, and evaluates community and in house-based recreational, social, and/or educational activities.

Evaluates client response to activities and adjust goals as necessary.

Ensure activities are appropriate for the ability of each client and meet established goals.

Participates in the development of both group, and individual activity plans.

Ensures health and safety plans are maintained.

Oversees day-to-day program activities by ensuring the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to.

Assigns clients and program activities to staff.

Ensures community support staff are following activity plans as intended.

Observes staff implementation and engagement with clients and redirects, corrects, and/or encourages staff as needed.

Provides supervision and direction for program volunteers.

Escalates staff/volunteer issues with participation, engagement, and correct implementation of the activity program to the Program Manager as needed.

Identifies social, recreational, and educational services in the community that will meet clients' needs.

Reviews program activity plans with the Program Manager to ensure program standards and licensing requirements are met.

Makes recommendations to the manager regarding program development and evaluation.

Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.

Encourages and facilitates clients' participation in activities; provides guidance and instructions.

Monitors and observes clients' behaviours. Reports problems to the Program Manager.

Ensures client safety. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and guidelines.

Administers medication as required in accordance with established guidelines.

Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Recognizes, analyzes, and manages potential emergency situations such as clients' aggressive behaviour to minimize potential harm to the clients and/or the public. Reports problems to the Program Manager.

Reviews and evaluates clients' progress and adjusts programs as required. Provides feedback and support to clients.

Provides written and/or verbal reports regarding clients' activity program progress.

Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Knowledge



Diploma in Recreational Therapy, Human Services, or Social Services.

Or

an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Training and Experience



One (1) year of recent related experience.

Or

an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
