Position: Activity LeaderDivision: Community ServicesDepartment: Recreation and Community DevelopmentTerm: 2 Availability Part Time position(s) available.Closing Date: 08/06/2024Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 3461Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Recreation Technician 8, this position monitors scheduled public admission recreational activities.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors scheduled public admission recreational activities.
  • Maintains a hazard-free, clean and safe activity area.
  • Distributes and retrieves equipment and ensures the proper use of equipment and activity space.
  • Completes attendance records and evaluation forms.
  • Assists with setting up the activity space.
  • Assists with maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Follows emergency procedures established for the activity and reports situation to the supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Requirements:
  • Grade 10 education.
  • One year\'s related experience in monitoring or instructing recreational activities.
  • Possession of valid first aid and Level C CPR certificates.
Kowledge, Abilities and Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in resolving issues that affect the use of the activity space and equipment, and group interaction and safety.
