Job Description

An activity manager in a retirement home plans, organizes, and leads programs to enhance residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being, including social events, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and outings. Key responsibilities include assessing resident needs and interests, managing budgets, overseeing staff and volunteers, coordinating with community groups, and creating a positive, engaging, and safe environment for residents.



Following are the duties but not limited to :

Program Development:

Design and implement a comprehensive schedule of activities tailored to residents' diverse needs, abilities, and interests.

Activity Facilitation:

Guide and assist residents in participating in a wide range of activities, from creative arts and musical programs to gentle exercise and social gatherings

Resident Engagement:

Encourage residents to participate, address their concerns, and ensure activities are engaging and meaningful for their physical, emotional, and mental health.

Budget and Resource Management:

Manage departmental budgets, track expenses, and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available and maintained.

Staff and Volunteer Management:

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate other activity staff and volunteers.

Community Outreach:

Coordinate with families, community members, local businesses, and organizations to enrich the activities program with diverse experiences and outings.

Record Keeping:

Document resident participation, gather feedback, and maintain records, such as creating activity calendars and social media pages.

Environment Management:

Ensure activity areas are clean, safe, and set up appropriately for various events and daily activities.
