We are looking for that right individual who is looking to combine their passion for accounting with an interest for real estate, development and property management to join our growing and highly effective accounting team.
Accounts Receivable Specialist
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager and Controller, the Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the following:
Maintain tenant files (set up new tenants, update lease terms in accounting system and move ins/outs)
Post monthly tenant billings
Accurately record tenant and other deposits and apply to tenant ledgers
Manage receivables by sending out tenant statements and following-up with outstanding balances
Ensure tenant recoveries accurately captured and charged back/invoiced (utilities etc.)
Prepare invoicing for other receivables
Set tenants up with pre-authorized debit payment plans
Prepare monthly credit card reconciliation
Prepare rent schedules for new tenants and annual changes
Prepare various accounting reports and analysis as required
Support property management staff in financial accounting matters
Support month end procedures including reconciling misc deposits, daily sales transactions from Market District
Record bank charges, NSF fees, bank transfers in accounting system
Assist tenants in utility changeover process to ensure timely transitions
Act as a liaison between tenants and management to answer questions and provide excellent service
Experience and Qualifications
5+ years of experience in an accounting or receivables role
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Experience with Yardi products an asset, but not required, on-site training will be available
Property management experience an asset
Independent self-starter that enjoys a hands-on small team environment
Excels at demonstrating detail and achieving accuracy while adhering to deadlines on a consistent basis
Excellent communication and customer service skills, including tact, diplomacy and
judgement to problem solve independently and in collaboration with other team members
