Contract Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic offers trauma-informed legal services and representation, counselling and multilingual interpretation, and drives system transformation to support women and gender-diverse people who have experienced violence. The Clinic is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable/Receivable Assistant to support the Clinic's finance team by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This role is responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining financial records, and assisting with reporting and reconciliation tasks. The position may also provide financial support to specific projects as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with Barbra Schlifer Clinic's Mandate, Mission and Values.
1.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
Process vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and other disbursements in accordance with internal policies
Verify and reconcile invoices with purchase orders and service agreements
Prepare and schedule payments, ensuring accuracy and timelines
Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all outgoing payments
2.ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
Track and record incoming payments from various sources
Generate and issue invoices as required
Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts
Reconcile receivables and ensure accurate posting in financial systems.
FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting
Support bank and account reconciliations
Maintain accurate and complete financial documentation for audits and internal reviews
Assist with budget tracking and financial data entry
Provide financial support to internal initiatives and projects as assigned
4. COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK
Collaborate with other departments, teams and administrative staff as needed to ensure smooth financial operations
Contribute to Clinic initiatives and improvement processes
Attend team and all-staff trainings and any Committee meetings assigned
5. ADMIN /OTHER
Complete and submit monthly timesheets and other reports as required
Perform any other duties as assigned by management
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
This position will work closely with the Clinic's Executive Office finance team and collaborate with other staff as needed
The position reports to and is supervised by the Manager of Executive Office or her designate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education in business, accounting, administration, information technology, or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (eg. QuickBooks, Sage)
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Commitment to social justice and the Clinic's mission
Minimum 2 years' experience of working with marginalized and immigrant, refugee and nonstatus populations is preferred
Ability to exercise sound judgment when encountering difficult situations and in performing job responsibilities
Demonstrated understanding of social issues relating to domestic violence, social services or community development consistent with an intersectional feminist/anti-oppression analysis
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
French language skills will be considered an asset

SALARY:
Range $38,173 - $44,226 annually
The position includes a comprehensive health benefits package offered through a group plan as part of our United Way membership upon satisfactory completion of a 3-month probationary period
DURATION:
12 months FT (35 hours/week)
