Job Description


We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Markham, Ontario. This is a long-term contract opportunity within the financial services industry, offering the chance to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Responsibilities:

  • Process invoices, ensuring they are accurately coded and sent through the appropriate approval workflows.
  • Manage payment processing, including electronic funds transfers (EFTs) and occasional cheque runs.
  • Perform account reconciliations with suppliers, addressing discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Handle inquiries and issues from suppliers and internal stakeholders with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee expenses, manually processing smaller volumes in spreadsheets as needed.
  • Assist with telecom invoice management, including reconciliations and consolidations.
  • Support the implementation and use of automation tools, such as Beamworks, for invoice and expense processing.
  • Ensure invoices are allocated to the correct departments and cost centres in alignment with budget requirements.
  • Update and maintain accounts payable policies and procedures to reflect current practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency and handle ad-hoc tasks as required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a related role.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to edit formulas and create basic spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with Great Plains Dynamics or similar accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Capability to work independently and confidently, while knowing when to seek clarification.
  • Experience with invoice coding, reconciliations, and data entry.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable automation tools, such as Beamworks, is an asset.
