KEY RESPONSIBILITIES As the Manager of Finance, you will oversee all financial aspects of the business and drive the company\xe2\x80\x99s financial strategy and planning. You will be responsible for assessing the financial performance of the company as well as possible risks and investments. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Policies - Develops and implements accounting policies and oversees all operational accounting aspects including accounts payable, receivables, general ledger, reconciliation, payroll and financial reporting
  • Procedures - Coordination of systems and procedures, and the preparation of operating data and special reports as required including interim and year-end financial statements. Maintains the company\'s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets
  • Planning and working with the Leadership Team - Establishes, coordinates and administers as an integral part of management, an adequate plan for the control of operations including profit planning, programs for capital investing and financing, sales forecasts, expense budgets and cost standards, together with necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan
  • Budgeting - Coordinates, reviews and endorses budget proposals, discusses proposed changes and significant changes to the stakeholders
  • Tax Planning & Coordination - Establishes and administers tax policies and procedures. Assists with the provision of data to the company\xe2\x80\x99s and principals\xe2\x80\x99 outside tax advisors on a quarterly or more frequent basis as needed to project taxable income for the company and to identify tax planning strategies. Coordinates the preparation of year-end income tax returns for the company, and possible personal returns for the principals with outside tax advisors
  • Government Reporting - Supervises and coordinates the preparation of reports to government agencies. Includes monitoring compliance with all applicable laws and government entities, including but not limited to the Ministry of Labour and Canada Revenue Agency
  • Integration with the rest of the business - Provides other managers and departments with information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities
  • Technology - Manages the installation, integration and maintenance of accounting computer systems
  • Asset Protection - Assures protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing and assuring proper insurance coverage
  • Capital Management - Establishes and executes programs for the provision of the capital required by the business, including negotiating the procurement of capital and maintaining the required financial arrangements. Coordinates the long-range plans of the company, assesses the financial requirements implicit in these plans and develops alternative ways in which financial requirements can be satisfied
  • Cash Management - Manages the cash-flow position of the company. Responsibility includes authority to establish credit and collections and purchasing policies and to establish schedules for the payment of bills and financial obligations
  • Financial Institutions - Maintains relationships with financial institutions in conjunction with the President. Administers banking arrangements and loan agreements, receives, has custody of and disburses the company\'s monies. Maintains adequate sources for the company\'s current borrowings from commercial banks and other lending institutions
  • Records Management - Ensures the maintenance of appropriate financial records and preparation of required financial reports, including monthly distribution of financial packages to the President and principals
  • Teambuilding & Development - Participates in and maintains all human resources functions for the Finance Team, including maintaining job descriptions, recruiting and hiring, training, and recommending changes in Accounting/Finance team staffing. Directly supervises and trains all Accounting/Finance department staff
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 5 years proven experience as Manager of Finance or similar role
  • Travel Industry background an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
  • Current with relevant technology trends and applications with an aptitude to learn new applications
  • Excellent organizational, time management and leadership skills
  • Strong attention to data and details
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Expert level problem solver, superior numerical proficiency with an analytical ability to take complex data and find the key metrics
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MA is a plus
  • CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus
