Position:
We are looking for an accounting technician/bookkeeper to join our team. This position is well suited for someone with some education or experience in business or accounting. If there is a desire to pursue a CPA designation there is room for professional growth. We offer a highly competitive compensation package with bonuses and a flexible working environment. Wage will vary depending upon experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze corporate year-end compilation engagements (includes yearly bookkeeping if necessary)
Prepare GST and file the returns
Prepare individual and corporate tax returns
Conduct Audit testing to assess financial information prior to the year-end compilation engagement for certain corporate clients
Prepare trust returns for estates
Tax planning for corporate shareholders personal tax returns, as requested
Prepare information slips such as T4's, and T5's dependant on the year-end file
Designate bookkeeping work to newer accounting technician staff and support team members
Answer client inquiries, and assist them with using accounting software
Prepare and submit (via Rep a client) individual tax adjustments
Perform miscellaneous duties and ad hoc special projects, as requested
Educational Requirements:
Completion of grade 12 or equivalent related experience
Certificate in Business Administration or Bookkeeping/Accounting Technician certificate
Desire or willingness to work towards CPA
Qualifications and Skills:
2+ years intermediate bookkeeping experience within a public accounting practice
Strong background in accounting processes and programs
Experience with the day-to-day accounting requirements as well as year-end preparation and tax return preparations
Proficient in Microsoft Office

and various software/programs including Caseware, Quickbooks online, Sage and ProFile
Previous experience in a client services role and the ability to maintain strong client relationships
Respond to client inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
Experience with CCH iFirm
Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
High level of professionalism and courtesy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills combined with ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Demonstrated attention to detail
Works well independently and as a supportive team player working with all departments
