Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Finance, we are looking for an Accounting Technician for a well-known charitable foundation and established family office who will be responsible for preparing reconciliations and assisting with many different aspects of the full accounting cycle.

Responsibilities

• Process the accounts payable (preparation of cheques, verification of invoices, etc.)
• Record daily transactions including dividend and cash receipts, as well as preparation of deposits, and required reconciliations
• Daily processing of marketable security transactions in portfolio and accounting system (security purchases and sales)
• Monthly Bank reconciliations
• Reconciliations of various general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable and investment accounts
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements
• Provide support for the year end audits
• Performance of related administrative tasks

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

• Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting role, preferably involving investment income receipts
• DEC or Bachelor Degree in Accounting (an asset)
• Ability to multi-task and work with multiple entities
• Strong Microsoft Office, specifically Excel skills.
• Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience is required
• Ability to work in a team-based environment
• Positive and motivated attitude with collaborative spirit.
