The Finance department is a part of the administration team, providing support to the programs of House of Friendship. We are seeking an individual to be responsible for assisting with aspects of general accounting and financial analysis, including financial reports and internal budgets to support the financial management of the organization.

** This is a permanent, salaried, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position

with paid sick time, personal days and vacation time;

group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.

Schedule to generally be daytime, weekday hours. Occasional evening

and/or weekend hours may be required to support House of Friendship events.

Work may be performed in a home office for some of the weekly hours. **

Key Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Assist with financial analysis, accounting functions and reports to funders

\xc2\xb7 Prepare quarter end and year-end journal entries and working papers for year-end audit

\xc2\xb7 Assist in creating and maintaining budgets spreadsheets

\xc2\xb7 Prepare bank deposits and monitor bank accounts

\xc2\xb7 Assist with payroll processing and related accounting

\xc2\xb7 Prepare quarterly account reconciliations

\xc2\xb7 Prepare quarterly and ad hoc financial reports for management

\xc2\xb7 Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested

\xc2\xb7 Provide financial and administrative support for fundraising activities and management

\xc2\xb7 Assist with reception and provide backup to main office staff as necessary

Skills & Experience:

\xc2\xb7 Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration or related field

\xc2\xb7 Accounting designation (CPA, CGA, etc.), or working towards an accounting designation would be considered an asset

\xc2\xb7 Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP), or working towards the designation would be considered an asset

\xc2\xb7 Minimum 1-2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in accounting

\xc2\xb7 Experience in accounting systems; knowledge of Financial Edge NXT considered an asset

\xc2\xb7 Current knowledge of payroll systems and knowledge of quadrant Workforce considered an asset

\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge and familiarity with legislation and practices relating to registered charities considered an asset

\xc2\xb7 Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

\xc2\xb7 Strong organizational and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy

\xc2\xb7 Commitment to understand and uphold the mission, vision and values of House of Friendship is expected

\xc2\xb7 Exemplary emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, conflict management and problem solving skills required

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, participants and community members

\xc2\xb7 Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural backgrounds, income levels, and sensitivity to their needs

\xc2\xb7 Experience with and commitment to using an anti-racism, anti-oppressive and trauma informed approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery

\xc2\xb7 Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude

\xc2\xb7 Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, addictions, mental illness and other life challenges

\xc2\xb7 Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics, planning and detailed record keeping

\xc2\xb7 Strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines are required

Rate of Pay:

At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of \xe2\x80\x9cgrades\xe2\x80\x9d and we base our payment structure on internal equity. When determining rate of pay, a candidate\xe2\x80\x99s past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience are currently on the pay grid.

Grade: 4

Min: $21.53

Mid: $24.93

Max: $28.33

Working Conditions:

\xc2\xb7 37.5 hours per week, generally daytime, weekday hours

\xc2\xb7 Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required to support House of Friendship events

\xc2\xb7 Work may be performed in a home office for some of the weekly hours

\xc2\xb7 Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected
