About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established nonprofit foundation focused on advancing community-impact initiatives through healthcare, research, and philanthropy. They are seeking a Finance Officer to join their team on a two-year contract. This is a great opportunity for a CPA-designated professional with nonprofit or public sector experience to contribute to meaningful work while strengthening their financial reporting and grant management expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Management Support

  • Support the full grant lifecycle - from pre-award review to post-award reporting and disbursement.
  • Interpret and apply funding agency guidelines, allowable expenditures, and reporting obligations.
  • Review and approve grant disbursements and ensure timely communication of reporting requirements and project progress.
  • Prepare and review financial and activity reports in collaboration with internal teams and grant holders.
  • Respond to financial reporting inquiries from granting agencies and coordinate stewardship reporting.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of grant activities, including applications, disbursements, reporting schedules, and payments.
Finance & Accounting
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Process weekly donation transactions and complete monthly donation reconciliations.
  • Support biweekly disbursement runs and liaise with Accounts Payable for payment processing.
  • Monitor and manage corporate credit card accounts, including credit limit adjustments and card issuance.
  • Assist with PST and GST filings, quarterly financial reporting, and preparation of audit working papers.
  • Provide financial data and reporting to fund signatories and internal stakeholders.
  • Support financial reporting for charitable gaming and raffles in compliance with provincial regulations.
  • Contribute to monthly financial reporting packages and fund balance updates.
Requirements:
Qualifications
  • CPA designation (or equivalent) with 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or grant management.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, charitable foundation, or public sector environment strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASNPO financial reporting standards and prior experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Exposure to grant administration, donor funding, or restricted fund accounting is an asset.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
