About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced
Accounting Manager
to join our growing team at Plug CPA. In this role, you will lead client projects, support a small team, and provide accounting and tax services to a range of clients, including entrepreneurs and small to mid-sized companies. You will be responsible for reviewing financial reports, managing tax filings, training junior staff, and helping improve processes using cloud-based tools. Key Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services including bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with ASPE and other relevant standards.
Prepare and review personal and corporate tax returns (T1, T2).
Train and supervise junior accounting staff; provide mentorship and performance feedback.
Act as a trusted advisor for clients, offering insight on tax planning, budgeting, cash flow, and process improvements.
Stay current on changes to Canadian accounting standards and CRA regulations.
Participate in strategic planning and contribute to firm-wide improvements.
Qualifications:
CPA designation (required).
Minimum 5 years of Canadian public accounting experience with progressive responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of Canadian tax and financial reporting standards (ASPE, CERS).
Experience using accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, QuickBooks Online, TaxPrep/Profile/ProTax
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead client engagements and supervise staff.
A proactive and adaptable mindset
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently or collaboratively.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, with possible weekend work during tax season based on business needs.
