We offer a rewarding career and brand that our employees are proud to represent.Job Scope:As a key member of the Finance team, this position is responsible for managing and overseeing all accounting functions and related administrative activities. The Accounting Manager will mentor staff, establish ongoing priorities, assign responsibilities, and ensure that all parts of the company are appropriately supported with complete, accurate, timely and efficient operations.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, coaching, leadership, and performance management for accounting staff.
  • Maintain staff training standards and complete regular reviews to ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Assist in preparing year-end financial statements and working papers for external accountants.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting transactions including standard entries, cost allocations and accruals.
  • Regular review of Accounts Payable & Receivable to ensure company policies are being adhered to.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements by completing analysis, explaining variances and other discrepancies, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with established timelines.
  • Analyze income statement accounts for variances and compliance with accounting policies.
  • Summarize account reconciliations, identify issues & trends, and report to executive management.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring business processes and policies, through the review and creation of department SOP\xe2\x80\x99s, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and assist in the execution of standardization of month end and other processes, together with enhancing technology utilization & workflow integration.
  • Work with Human Resources, IT, Project Managers, Accounts Payable & Receivable, other staff and management for training, support and exchanging information.
  • Assist Accounting staff during busy periods.
  • Oversee and/or contribute from time-to-time to Special Projects, and other duties as required.
Professional & Educational Background:
  • Post-Secondary education in business accounting or finance, with an accounting designation in good standing.
  • Advanced knowledge of current financial best practices and regulations
  • 5+ years in a Management or Leadership role
  • Experience in the Transportation, freight forwarding, and logistics industry is an asset.
