Duties
Oversee all aspects of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and precise reporting.
Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and collections.
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and audit preparations to uphold financial integrity.
Implement and monitor internal controls in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards to safeguard company assets.
Provide mentorship and training to junior accounting staff, fostering professional growth and technical expertise in areas such as non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or securities law as applicable.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to inform strategic planning.
Ensure accurate regulatory reporting and compliance with relevant laws governing financial services and tax regulations.
Utilize advanced accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
Proven expertise in technical accounting areas including SOX compliance, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), public accounting practices, or private equity environments.
Proficiency with accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Quicken or similar tools; advanced Excel skills required.
Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial report writing.
Experience with regulatory reporting requirements related to governmental or non-profit organizations is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to mentor team members effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly.
