POSITION SUMMARYAs the Accounting Manager, you will be a key contributor in the Finance team of SE Health. You will be managing direct reports in the roles of accounts payable, banking, and general accounting. You will be doing hands-on processing including analyzing financial data and presenting to senior management to support effective financial decision-making across the organization.This is a hybrid role where you are required to attend at our head office in Markham (90 Allstate Pkwy, Markham, ON L3R 6H3) a minimum of two days a week.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, with a focus on overseeing the month-end close process.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements for the largest entity within the group.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for accounting-related business support, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Triage and prioritize business requests, ensuring timely assignment and resolution by the team.
  • Manage a team of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) coordinators, providing ongoing support, training, and mentorship.
  • Oversee the review and approval of payments (cheques, EFTs, wires, etc.) across all SE entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to SE standards.
  • Review work prepared by professional financial accountants and analysts on an as-needed basis.
  • Contribute to accurate financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders in various capacities.
  • Support year-end close activities and assist with external audits.
  • Maintain ownership of the accounting system, including oversight of maintenance, upgrades, and conversions.
  • Ensure that processes operate effectively within a robust control environment and comply with established accounting procedures and policies.
  • Assist in the development of annual plans, budgets, and forecasts, and facilitate their integration into accounting software.
  • Identify and resolve issues by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Other projects on as as-needed basis.
REQUIREMENTS
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven managerial experience, with a strong teamwork orientation and hands-on, proactive management style.
  • In-depth knowledge of the full accounting cycle and Canadian accounting principles is essential; experience with NPOs and charity reporting is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with regular interaction with senior management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with the ability to manage and analyze large datasets.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working closely with multiple stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and MicroStrategy as a BI reporting tool is preferred.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt and provide solutions as business needs evolve
