The Opportunity
We are looking to add an experienced public practice Accounting Manager to join this growing CPA firm based in Langley, BC. This growth role will report directly to the Partners of the firm, and together with the existing Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will collectively manage a team of 8 Accountants to provide an exceptional experience to more than 800 small to mid-sized businesses throughout the province of British Columbia.

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is strongly preferred; however, a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Candidates in possession of or pursuing their CPA designation will be given priority.
  • A minimum of 5 years of specific experience working in a public practice accounting firm is required, with at least 2 years working in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Proficiency with Caseware, TaxCycle, Sage and QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a must!
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, tax compliance, and general accounting principles.
  • Highly collaborative with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Meticulously detailed with exceptional organization, time management and communication skills.
  • A natural leader with a proven ability to mentor and develop talent for future growth
  • Strong analytical abilities with a proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements
  • Prior experience reviewing work, coaching and mentoring Junior Accountants.
Responsibilities of the Position
  • Supervise and coordinate a team of 8 accountants, ensuring efficient workflow and balanced staff workloads.
  • Delegate assignments based on team members' strengths, experience, and development goals, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review completed work for technical accuracy and compliance with firm standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and regular feedback to support professional growth and promote a collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee the scheduling and progress of client engagements, adjusting resources as needed to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, offering guidance and solutions in accounting and tax matters.
  • Foster open communication among team members, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Lead regular team meetings to review priorities, track progress, and address challenges proactively.
  • Monitor and report on team performance metrics, identifying areas for process optimization and enhanced client service.
  • Collaborate with Partners to plan staffing needs, participate in recruitment, and contribute to the firm's strategic objectives.
