located in the heart of Guelph, with multiple locations. We are a full-service processor of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. We are one of the most established and reputable independent scrap metal processors in Ontario. We are looking for motivated individuals to join our growing team.
The Role
Your work will vary from week to week, and will include a variety of tasks including:
Manage and supervise daily operations of the accounting department.
Conduct month-end and year-end close process.
Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce accurate and timely financial statements
Develop and maintain financial databases and recordkeeping systems.
Assist in compliance with all financial regulations.
Coordinate and complete annual audits/review and work with external auditors and lenders
Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
Working with other departments such as operations and sales to streamline different business processes.
Provide recommendations for improving procedures and systems for cost-effectiveness.
Identify areas for continuous improvement and develop the necessary processes.
Participate in financial strategy planning and decision-making processes.
Office support as requested.

Skills & Experience Required
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or CPA preferred but not required).
Minimum
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
, including at least
2 years in a supervisory or management role
.
Proven experience managing the month-end close, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting processes.
Experience working with
QuickBooks
(Online or Desktop) for bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial management.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
, including advanced functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis).
Strong working knowledge of
QuickBooks
for accounting operations and reporting.
Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.
Analytical & Management Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven ability to develop and implement accounting procedures and internal controls.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to meet tight deadlines.
