Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Accounting Manager

to oversee our organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in corporate and nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills to mentor accounting staff, ensure accuracy in financial statements, and support the organization's financial health. The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in maintaining adherence to GAAP, SOX compliance, and other regulatory standards while managing various accounting functions using advanced financial software.

Responsibilities



Lead and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses. Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation processes. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring proper coding and processing of transactions. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Conduct financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making. Ensure compliance with SOX controls, LIHTC regulations, securities law, governmental accounting standards, and other applicable regulations. Oversee regulatory reporting requirements and ensure timely submission of reports to relevant authorities. Maintain internal controls over financial processes to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity. Mentor and develop accounting staff through training on technical accounting standards such as GAAP, GAAS auditing standards, and industry-specific practices. Utilize various accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial management tools for efficient operations. Support internal audits and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits or special reviews. Stay current on evolving financial regulations and best practices within corporate finance, nonprofit accounting, private equity, or related fields.

Skills



Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, corporate finance principles, and regulatory reporting standards. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis. Strong understanding of technical accounting concepts including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation. Experience with tax regulations related to nonprofit organizations or corporate entities is a plus. Ability to interpret complex financial reports and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience mentoring or supervising accounting teams. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform financial management tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial report writing. Knowledge of securities law, wills & estate law is advantageous for specific organizational needs. Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Pay: $63,723.18-$95,000.00 per year
