We are hiring an Accounting Manager to support our small Concord office team as a "working leader", responsible for leading the general accounting, financial reporting, payroll management and overall office administration. The responsibilities include:
General Accounting
Manages accounts payable and receivable staff to ensure accurate and timely processing and payment of bills, ensures that staff resources are appropriately scheduled and organized.
Maintains the general ledger chart of accounts, AR/AP sub-ledgers and trial balance.
Prepares and distributes profit reports, client/supplier year-to-date summaries, monthly bank reports, and other financial statements as needed by senior management and external accountants.
Ensures timely filing and payment of payroll taxes, HST, union dues, EHT, and annual government reporting requirements.
Monitors and manages cash flow, addressing discrepancies and any potential issues.
Prepares monthly progress billings for large projects, manages AR collections, and processes statutory declarations to support project payments.
Maintains and updates the Jonas accounting system to ensure data integrity and system functionality.
Oversees year-end financial close and liaises with external accountants for review and finalization.
Provides backup coverage for accounting staff during absences including data entry and preparing manual cheques.
Ensures the company complies with government requirements and represents the company during any audits or reviews of government filings.
Payroll Management
Conducts day-to-day payroll administration, including collection and processing of weekly timesheets, direct deposits, government remittances and government/union filings.
Human Resources and Office Management
Provides human resources support for interpreting, assisting and advising employees and managers on C&K's HR policies and procedures.
Manages employee records and HR administration, including vacation schedules, attendance, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, and WSIB claims.
Oversees general office administration, acting as the main point of contact for vendors, supplies, and insurance-related matters.
Information Technology
Technical lead for the Jonas accounting system, including software updates and communications with software vendor.
Acts as the internal coordinator for all information technology and software and liaises with outside consultants and service providers to ensure systems are operating effectively.
Qualifications:
Completion of a post-secondary program in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related area (or equivalent work experience)
Minimum of five years in a similar Accounting/Finance/Administration role
Supervisory experience
Assets:
CPA designation
Experience with Jonas accounting system is highly desirable
Experience in a construction environment
