Job Overview



The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial integrity, supporting decision-making, and improving processes within the finance department. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to manage people and priorities in a growing organization.

Responsibilities and Duties



Supervise and support the daily activities of the AP, AR, and billing clerks. Oversee general ledger entries and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports. Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries. Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings, year-end working papers, and audits. Manage GST/HST remittances. Develop and maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies. Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support operational and strategic planning. Collaborate with leadership to optimize cost management and revenue recognition processes. Train and mentor junior finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes. Handling special projects as requested by management. Additional duties as deemed necessary. Responsibilities and duties may change with the needs and requirements of the business.

Job Requirements



Reliable and punctual. Should have reliable transportation to get to/from work. Review and abide by company policies and procedures. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Hard-working and team player.

Qualifications and Skills



Experience in the transportation, logistics, or service industry is a strong asset. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with On-Time, TMS, or integrated operational systems is a plus. Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Certifications/Requirements



Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

CGA/CPA designation strongly preferred.

5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.

Pay: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
