The Opportunity:
Accounting Manager
As an Accounting Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Company's accounting operations by:
Managing the accounts payable function to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Overseeing financial reporting cycles and maintaining the integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual results.
Enhancing internal controls, streamlining processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborating across departments to provide financial insight that supports informed decision-making.
Leading, mentoring, and developing team members to promote professional growth and operational excellence.
We're looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who demonstrates strong analytical skills, values accuracy and accountability, and is passionate about developing people and improving financial operations.
What You'll Do:
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Accounts Payable and Financial Reporting functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Foster a high-performance culture through effective hiring, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
Oversee all invoice, expense, and payment processing activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Manage complex financial transactions, including executive expenses, capital acquisitions, and corporate donations.
Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities, ensuring transparency and consistency.
Direct audit preparation and coordination with external auditors, maintaining complete and compliant documentation.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of all tax and regulatory filings across jurisdictions.
Drive continuous improvement and automation within AP and financial reporting workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT, and Business Analysis teams to strengthen financial systems and reporting capabilities.
Maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation to support compliance and operational excellence.
What You'll Bring:
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Proven experience in accounts payable operations, financial statement preparation, and audit coordination.
Experience working in insurance, financial services, or regulated industries is an asset.
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in accounting systems and ERP platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Dynamics 365, or similar).
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions for financial analysis, data modeling, and reporting.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, supporting effective documentation, collaboration, and presentation of financial insights.
Direct experience with financial statement preparation, budgeting processes, regulatory reporting, and familiarity with IASB Accounting Standards is considered a valuable asset.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and build strong relationships across departments.
Track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Ability to balance day-to-day oversight with long-term planning and system enhancements.
High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Chartered Processional Accountant (CPA) designation or in progress.
