With rapid growth comes opportunity. We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team in Canada.

The Accounting Manager will be a primary business partner to the Country Managing Director, both operationally and strategically. Responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance back-office activities, including accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Responsibilities:

Facilitates and completes month-end closing procedures including ledger entries and associated reconciliations, import of financials to the IDL consolidation platform, analysis of gross profit and cost of goods sold, as well as operating expenses as compared to prior year, prior period, and the annual budget. Prepares financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly fiscal close schedule - Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flows and key operating metrics. Develops and maintains internal controls and safeguards for cash receipts of customer accounts, inventory costing (FIFO), operational expenses and payroll costs. Coordinates with the office of the CFO to support financial statement reporting, budgeting and cash flow forecasting. Partners with operations to manage procurement and appropriate inventory levels; manages commensurate intercompany settlements and cash flow operations (collections and disbursements) through multi-currency banking. Responsible for applicable regulations and statutory rules for local jurisdiction and office, including tracking, reporting, filing and remitting PST, HST, GST, and income taxes. Supports the US Accounting team with the annual global group audit. Identifies areas for operational improvement and leads change initiatives.

Qualifications:

Equivalent education to US Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance applicable to location required. Equivalent certification to CPA or Chartered Accountant as applicable to location required. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager/Controller required that includes progressive experience in financial operations, banking, reporting, and budgeting. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat required. Expert knowledge in Excel is needed including XLOOKUP's and SUMIFS formulas as well as Pivot Tables. Advanced knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics Navision, Business Central, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar (Microsoft NAV 2017 is Hygiena Canada's current ERP).

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication. Must be bilingual with the ability to communicate effectively English and French. Must be able to use discretion and independent judgement. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to direct work and supervise employees, through project work. Must be highly detail oriented. Must be able to adapt and flex to a changing environment. Ability to interpret, analyze, and trend large amounts of data. Experience in distribution environment is preferred, manufacturing a plus. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to multitask and balance multiple high priority tasks. Ability to timely issue accurate, consistent, user-friendly management reporting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

Is required to work normal office hours (with some flexibility as per the below) Monday through Friday in the Office May occasionally work early morning/evenings/weekends to accommodate urgent customer requests in different time zones This position is considered light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the employee sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer screen Frequently required to maintaining a static position, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
