leads and manages accounting operations, oversees financial processes, and builds strong stakeholder relationships in delivering accounting services for the organization. They are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
HIGH-LEVEL TASKS
Client Management:
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, both internal and external.
Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on accounting and financial matters.
Accounting Operations:
Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
Conduct account reconciliations and monitor accounts payable and receivable.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Payroll Oversight:
Oversee the accurate and timely payroll administration
Ensure all regulatory and tax reporting is administered and reported in compliance with requirements (ie. CPP, EI, ESA,etc.)
Ensure accuracy of payroll data calculations and reporting
Team Management:
Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Hire, train, and develop new accounting employees.
Delegate tasks and provide guidance to team members.
Promote a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Internal Controls:
Assess and improve internal controls within the accounting department.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Implement and maintain robust accounting systems and processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA Designation required
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role; in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, corporate finance and accounting software (ie. ERP - Microsoft Dynamics, SAP)
