Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Generalist - Accounts Payable to support our finance operations with precision and efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for managing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments, all while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism. Starting Salary - $60,000/Year
Responsibilities
Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
Assist in accounting related activities of the hotel which include accounts payable, food and beverage inventory cost control, banking/cash management and credit / client billing
Complete and verify account analysis for all Food and Beverage inventories and expense valuation; work with procurement system (Birchstreet) to check for accuracy/consistency
Participates in month end physical inventory stock count
Investigate outstanding vendor inquiries regarding payments
Review, code invoices and verify with Purchase Orders where necessary
Scan invoices, bank direct debit and documents to the Centralized Accounting Service Delivery Team
Review Vendor Accounts issue Log, and provide resolutions in a timely manner
Print cheques upon file creation with appropriate control log and steps
Supports the treasury operations (record, control cash float/petty cash handling) and look after the business banking receipts by recording all cash/cheque transactions to ensure accuracy and timely receipt in the hotel bank accounts
Balance daily banking to the cash allocated via the Property Manager daily report and prepare daily banking receipts
Monitor compliance with policies for General Cashier float floats, daily banking of cash, foreign exchange and petty cash disbursement per company policy at all times
Ensure all house floats are supported by approved house bank contracts and administer issuance and returns. Perform random counts for all house floats on a quarterly basis and report discrepancies. Provide cash change and refund of colleague overdrafts on a daily basis
Credit applications and credit checks on future groups, tours etc.
Provide timely billing of Wedding/Group/Tour accounts following invoicing protocol
Maintain records of advance deposits, apply as specified or refund as required
Apply payments to the accounts receivables ledger, and perform daily shift closing/ensure all postings are properly coded for the general ledger
May be required to work extended hours at month end
Assist the finance leadership team with ad hoc projects and requests
Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives
Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives
Carry out any other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
College degree in Business/Accounting or combination of experience and education
Previous Hospitality Operations exposure and cash handling experience preferred
Familiarity with hotel operating systems (Opera PMS, Silverware POS and/or Micros POS) and exposure to accounting systems preferred (i.e. Birchstreet procurement tool, Sun GFS back of house, and Accounts Payable software)
Knowledge in Microsoft Office required (Excel in particular)
Excellent administrative/analytical ability; interpersonal/communication skills and self-motivated to work in a safe, prudent and organized manner
Willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks to meet deadlines with quality results
Self?motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions
Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision
