This role plays a key part in supporting financial operations, including transaction processing, payroll support, and receivables management of a non-profit organization. Some of the responsibilities of the Accounting Coordinator job opening in Toronto, ON may include but are not limited to:

  • Handle daily financial transactions such as invoice processing, expense tracking, and revenue entries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, verifying documentation and approvals.
  • Allocate costs to appropriate accounts and departments, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
  • Monitor vendor discounts, validate tax details, and resolve discrepancies in billing or payments.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities and outstanding payment follow-ups.
  • Review and process employee expense claims in line with company guidelines.
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers with the general ledger and manage petty cash disbursements.
  • Process and reconcile credit card transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations for international payments.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support internal audits.
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices, manage accounts receivable, and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Analyze receivables aging reports and flag high-risk accounts.
  • Support payroll processes, including responding to employee inquiries, auditing payroll data, and ensuring timely remittances.
  • Participate in year-end payroll reconciliations and reporting.
  • Maintain organized financial records in accordance with retention policies.
  • Contribute to process improvements and uphold data confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Payroll, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems such as Sage, ACCPAC, ADP Workforce Now etc.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
