We are looking for an experienced Accounting Clerk to join our team in Toronto, Ontario, on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payroll operations, and maintaining accurate financial records. Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor payments by verifying invoice codes and scheduling timely disbursements.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships by managing account balance collections and addressing inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) workflows.
  • Handle payroll functions, including preparing ROEs, T4s, and other payroll-related documentation.
  • Accurately process vendor invoices through the company's approval systems and perform account coding.
  • Input financial data into Microsoft Dynamics GP, ensuring accuracy of pricing and sales tax calculations.
  • Reconcile vendor and customer accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved.
  • Prepare cheques by matching them with backup documentation and organizing them for signatures.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries, providing thorough and effective resolutions.
  • File, archive, and retrieve paid invoices for audits and other special requests as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, including handling ROEs and T4s.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with account reconciliation and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Familiarity with Canadian payroll systems and practices, including Payworks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills for effectively addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
