Work Description
In this hands-on role, the Accounting Clerk assists the Junior Project Accountant, Project Accountants and Controller, performing various administrative accounting tasks on a timely and accurate basis in accordance with company policies and internal controls. The Accounting Clerk plays a key role in ensuring that invoices are verified, paid, posted and filed.
This is a full-time permanent position with an ideal start date in April 2023.
Major Responsibilities: Accounting Clerk
  • Stamp, code, verify and post invoices for utilities and tax bills.
  • Weekly matching, coding and posting of invoices.
  • Prepare, print and process weekly and biweekly cheque runs.
  • Process permit cheque requisitions.
  • Review and submit time sheets.
  • Disburse invoices received in the Tamarack AP mailbox to the appropriate project accountant.
  • Monthly reconciliation of suppliers and process discount checks.
  • Follow up with Junior Project Accountant and Project Accountants regarding outstanding invoice amounts from reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end files for posted GL invoices.
  • Periodically liaise with suppliers regarding outstanding invoices and payments.
  • Review scanned files monthly and transfer scanned files for fiscal year to the proper folders.
  • Assist with the preparation of year end audit.
  • With respect to the above duties, ensure established process and policy is adhered to, reporting any discrepancies to the Controller.
  • Other duties as required.

Statement of Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Finance is required for this role.
  • 1 to 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 relevant work experience in Accounting or Finance is preferred
  • Strong ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient use of various office based software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe
  • Experience using an ERP system or other complex accounting system, in the construction industry would be an asset
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and approach situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment
  • Providing service to several people, working under many simultaneous deadlines
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time at workstation
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Repetitive work
