Job Summary

We are seeking a detail, oriented and organized accounting clerk to join our team at Johnston Meier Insurance in Maple Ridge. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting support, data entry, and financial recordkeeping. If you have a keen eye for accuracy, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

Process accounts payable and account accounts receivable transactions Maintain accurate and organized financial documents Support month end and year-end financial close procedure Communicate with vendors, clients and internal departments regarding financial matters Perform data entry and maintain account databases Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial transactions Proficiency and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage or similar) Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) Excellent attention to detail and accuracy and data entry Knowledge of bank statement reconciliation and financial records Proficiency in preparing invoices, expense reports, and payment records Strong organizational skills Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks Ability to work in a team setting, is willing to learn Ability to take direction from team lead Experience in the insurance industry - preferred but not required

Qualifications:

Diploma or certificate in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) an asset 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role Experience working in an insurance or financial services environment is an asset
