Job Description


This corporate group of companies is comprised of multi-faceted wholesale/retail operations within Prince Edward Island. Management is looking for an Accounting Clerk who will bring an energetic and \xe2\x80\x98on-your-feet\xe2\x80\x99 skill set to meet the demanding financial activities of the business. The successful candidate will work with and learn from the existing staff and will be an important part of the team. Qualifications and Skills:

  • College or university level degree with a focus in Accounting preferred, or
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Experience with inventory accounting preferred
  • Proficiency in using computerized accounting software
  • Ability to make rational, ethical, and accountable decisions
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail
  • High standard of customer service
Responsibilities:
  • Recording of purchase orders, purchase invoices and reconciling to vendor statements
  • Performing vendor payment runs
  • Posting of daily transactions and credit card clearing settlements
  • Posting to the general ledger
  • Setting up new inventory items
  • Billing non-cash customers for products and services
  • Depositing cash and cheques
  • Reconciling credit card, loan accounts, and other balance sheet items
  • Preparing of GST/HST returns
  • Preparing bank reconciliations
Other Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring day-to-day accounting and financial reporting requirements are met
  • Assisting with data and information requests and supporting documentation as required
  • Assisting with developing new products
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Giving general information and/or taking orders over the phone
  • Maintaining confidentiality over company documents and information
  • Developing positive working relationships
  • Communicating with management and other team members positively and effectively
  • Assisting other office and warehouse staff when required
  • Other general administrative duties
