Accounting Bookkeeper
Full Time | 40 Hours weekly | $22.47 - $26.23
We are recruiting an Accounting Bookkeeper - Administration (1000). The Accounting Bookkeeper reporting to the Director of Finance, provides a variety of accounting and bookkeeping services and maintains accurate records and reports. Responsibilities include recording day-to-day financial transactions, completing the posting process, verifying transaction accuracy, and ensuring all invoices are properly recorded, tracked, approved, and paid. The role works closely with financial professionals, management, and external vendors to bring the books to the trial balance stage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process accounts payable invoices and review/organize related documentation.
Reconcile and balance cheque payments and accounts to the General Ledger.
Follow up with suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
Verify, balance, and reconcile bank accounts; deposit cash and cheques.
Discuss and resolve account discrepancies with bank staff.
Process accounts receivable (A/R) information and produce/distribute billings.
Balance and reconcile A/R billing amounts to the General Ledger.
Initiate follow-up reminders and make calls to late or delinquent accounts.
Compile, prepare, and maintain records, files, and statistics.
Reconcile monthly household program accounts.
Prepare preliminary monthly program operation statements.
Maintain employee absence records.
Assist with payroll and benefits administration.
Prepare revenue and expense/financial statements.
Submit taxes, deductions, and other amounts to agencies.
Prepare journal vouchers and post summary amounts to the General Ledger.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Grade 12 and post-secondary bookkeeping courses, or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
Knowledge of accounting best practices, budgeting, and tax obligations.
Experience with financial transaction reporting and supporting payroll processing, including payroll taxes.
Understanding of tax obligations and reporting requirements for payables.
Knowledge of employment standards and agency benefit plans.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., SAGE 3000).
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with diverse community groups and other stakeholders
