Description/About the Role:
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Accounting Associate will be responsible for efficient and effective execution of core financial processes for a growing professional services firm headquartered in downtown Toronto. Primary processes/areas of control include, but will not be limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.

Support (formal CPA mentoring, cost reimbursement) will be provided for CPA candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, issuance, and collection of client invoices
  • Review and process vendor invoices
  • Weekly cash forecasting
  • Monthly credit card/expense reconciliation
  • Bi-weekly payroll processing (Canada and United States)
  • Manage/administer expense reporting platform (Concur)
  • Monthly account reconciliation (bank, intercompany, etc.)
  • Monthly preparation of internal financial statements for multiple entities on a standalone basis, and on a consolidated basis
  • Monthly analysis of financial results
  • Preparation and analysis of project revenues and expenses
  • Annual preparation of external financial statements and coordination of Notice to Reader engagements with an external accounting firm
  • Preparation and delivery of required information for annual tax returns
  • Performing other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance/accounting
  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role, either in an accounting firm or industry environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Direct experience in transaction entry into and administration of a GL system
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Ambitious and proactive
  • Intelligent and eager to learn
  • Works with a sense of urgency
  • Highly sociable, courteous, and professional
  • Detail-oriented and disciplined in self-review
  • Ability to manage competing demands and priorities
  • Assertive and confident to work with strong personalities
