SpanMaster Structures Ltd., a long term, local construction company, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant / Projects Administrator to join our team and fill the void once our current team member's work permit expires. The ideal candidate will be a team player, with a crucial role in supporting our Finance Controller by managing various accounting & administrative tasks and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Responsibilities
Assist with accounts payable processes, including data entry, and payment processing
Perform credit account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
Maintain and update financial data in accounting software (Sage 100 Contractor)
Support payroll & LOA processing, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
Collaborate with team members to maintain & distribute in house reports and job site/crew packages
Provide clerical support, including filing, data entry, and responding to email & telephone inquiries
Ensure compliance with government & company policies and GAAP
Arrange travel / accommodations for field crews
Ensure warranties are registered
Qualifications
Proficient in MS office
Resourceful, analytical thinker
Willingness to learn & take on new tasks
Familiarity with computerized payroll systems
Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, pleasant phone etiquette
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Someone who can take initiative and practices open & clear, concise communication with a friendly, approachable personality
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and account reconciliation tasks
Efficient with computerized accounting software, but willing to train the right candidate
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
You will be working in a close knit office for a local, privately owned business where the words 'that's not my job' don't hold power. We work collaboratively, as a team, to achieve the same goal. There is no competition, and cross training is encouraged. This position will report directly to the Finance Controller
Please note: This position is located in Tappen, BC so no public transportation is available. Must have a reliable mode of transportation as working remotely is not an option. In an effort to support our local communities, we will only be considering candidates who currently reside within the Thompson-Okanagan Region.
