Accounting Assistant – Must Have Quickbooks Desktop Experience

Job Description
We are seeking a detail-focused and reliable Accounting Assistant to join a fast-paced accounting team supporting multiple financial entities. This is a full-time, in-office (NW Edmonton), 1-year contract position with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage Benefit Payment Account (BPA) cheques, including printing, packaging, mailing, and banking uploads
- Process weekly Accounts Payable cheque runs for multiple entities within the organization
- Upload and verify cheques within online banking platforms
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and organized digital and physical financial records
- Support additional accounting tasks such as reciprocity cheques, pension lump-sum payments, and file reviews
- Provide reconciliation support during peak periods or absences within the team
- Degree or diploma in Accounting or related discipline
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an accounting or finance role
- QuickBooks Desktop experience is required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in insurance, pension, or health-related sectors is preferred
- Pension Plan Administration Certificate is preferred
