Job Description
Accounting Assistant A leader in our sector, we are a well-established and growing seafood processing and marketing company, more than 25 years in business, providing quality seafood products for domestic and export markets. As a member of our head office team based in Halifax, and reporting to the Controller, responsibilities for this position would include but not be limited to the following. This is a full- time, permanent position.
- Checking, coding, and entering purchase invoices
- Vendor reconciliations
- Preparation of electronic vendor payment batches (EFT and ACH)
- Assisting with accruals
- Assisting with invoicing and accounts receivable
- Customer follow-up
- Covering staff vacations when needed
- Minimum of 2 years' full-time accounting experience
- Post-secondary training in accounting
- Good understanding of accounting principles
- Good computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office
- High level of work accuracy
- Good data entry skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and multi-task in a busy office
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics accounting system would be an asset but it is not essential.
- Monday to Friday
