Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for processing daily financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the Controller and Payroll/HR team. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, accurate, proactive, and comfortable in a dynamic office environment.
While this is primarily an accounting role, the Accounting Assistant will also assist with
call taking
when our CSR/Dispatch team is experiencing high call volume. This includes answering the phone professionally, classifying incoming calls, and inputting relevant information into Service Titan CRM platform.
ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & Receivable
Enter, verify, and code vendor invoices
Ensure all invoices are accurately matched to the corresponding PO and packing slip before processing
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Review customer invoices for completeness and accuracy
Process customer payments and maintain accurate A/R records
Assist with collections on overdue accounts
Financial Administration
Reconcile company credit cards and receipts
Support monthly bank and account reconciliations
Maintain organized and compliant financial documentation
Support to Controller & HR
Collect and verify technician timesheets/job paperwork
Assist Payroll/HR with maintaining accurate employee files
Prepare weekly and monthly financial summaries as needed
Provide general administrative support to the Controller
Call Taking Support
Answer inbound calls professionally when CSR/Dispatch is busy
Classify and route calls to the correct department
Book straightforward service appointments using scripts and guidelines
Provide a warm, helpful first-touch experience for customers
QualificationsRequired
1-3 years experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative finance
Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets
Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
Strong accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organization and time-management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Comfortable answering phones in a professional, customer-friendly manner
Preferred
Experience in a service-based, construction, or trades company
Familiarity with ServiceTitan (asset but not required)
Bookkeeping or accounting certificate

On-site at our Abbotsford office
Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
