OVERVIEW:
In this role the Accounting and Financial Reporting Supervisor will be an integral part of the Controller’s team reporting to the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for the reporting of GroupM Canada legal entity financials. Key Accountabilities:

  • Review and approve journal entries including intercompany and non-intercompany expenses and ensure completeness and accuracy of transactions
  • Manage GroupM Canada legal entity monthly financials in Cartesis consolidation system and provide additional information as needed to the regional team
  • Ensure that income statements actual versus budget / proforma variances commentaries are prepared for management and regional office in a timely manner
  • Ensure comparative balance sheet variance analysis (current Vs prior year) is completed timely
  • Prepare and assist team in completing general ledger reconciliations in accordance with ICFR requirements
  • Ensure monthly sales tax filing through online portal are completed and lead CRA tax audits as required
  • Review/ prepare annual legal entity financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, etc.) and assist in the preparation and review of corporate tax returns. Returns filed by Big Four.
  • Work with the Assistant controller to identify areas of improvements within the controller’s group and maximize efficiency
  • Ad-hoc assignments as required
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, building relationships with a diverse range of people at all levels of the business
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Ability to handle high volumes and work within tight deadlines
Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Major in accounting, finance or business-related field is preferred
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • At least 5 years related work experience– preferably within the media industry
  • Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables and v-lookups)
  • Consolidation software: SAP BFC/ Cartesis; MediaOcean / DDS experience is an asset
