Who We Are



Knowles Centre Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization that provides a range of therapeutic, clinical, and skills-based programs for children, youth, young adults, and their families. Our programs include Healing Homes, Treatment Foster Care, SAIL, Day Treatment, Counselling, and a variety of cultural, recreational, and support services. We are located on a scenic North Kildonan campus and employ over 120 dedicated staff across multiple programs.

Position Overview



The Accounting & Finance Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily financial operations of Knowles Centre. Working closely with the Accounting Supervisor, Director of Finance & Administration, Payroll & Benefits Coordinator, and Program Assistant, this position contributes to accurate financial processing across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, expense reimbursements, and month?end preparation.

This role is ideal for candidates with solid hands?on accounting experience who enjoy working in a collaborative environment and want to contribute to meaningful work in the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities



Accounts Payable & Receivable:



Process vendor invoices, credit card statements, and reimbursement requests. Maintain accurate vendor and client records. Support accounts receivable processing. Prepare deposits and assist with monitoring outstanding receivables.

Payroll & Benefits Support:



Assist with Payworks payroll processing. Verify timesheets and payroll documentation. Support benefit administration tasks.

General Accounting & Month-End:



Enter transactions in QuickBooks. Assist with reconciliations and journal entries. Track employee expense reimbursements, mileage, and allowances. Maintain organized financial files.

Administrative Finance Support:



Respond to internal and external inquiries. Assist in improving financial procedures and workflows. Provide general support to the Finance leadership team.

Qualifications & Experience



Required:



Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business. 1-3 years of accounting experience. Experience with QuickBooks. Experience with Payworks or similar payroll systems. Strong accuracy, detail orientation, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred:



Nonprofit finance experience. Understanding of basic accounting principles. Experience with process improvement or workflow development.
