Job Description

Winpak Division is seeking an Accounting Analyst (1 year term) to join the Finance team based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.





As an Accounting Analyst reporting to the Manager - Financial Reporting, you'll be at the heart of the financial operations, supporting the smooth flow of daily general accounting functions, including accounts payable. You'll have the opportunity to take on key responsibilities in the monthly financial close process, helping prepare financial statements and supporting schedules, while ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet general ledger accounts. This role offers a dynamic environment where you'll work closely with the Manager - Financial Reporting, gaining valuable experience and making a direct impact on the company's financial success.




Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting Support


• Assist the Manager - Financial Reporting with overseeing the Accounting and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring processes are completed accurately and on time.
• Prepare monthly analysis of departmental operating expense schedules for review with management prior to financial statement preparation.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to internal management and the corporate office.
• Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting and accounts payable staff, ensuring accurate and timely posting to the general ledger.
• Review and approve monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure accuracy in working papers.
• Reconcile inventory perpetual records, AR/AP subledgers, and other key accounts to the general ledger monthly.
• Prepare and file monthly commodity tax returns (GST, PST, QST).
• Assist in monthly capital expenditure reporting, including project assignments and reconciliation with the general ledger.


System Administration & Internal Controls


• Administer the Nexonia support system, managing electronic expense report submissions and approvals for employees.
• Work with the Manager - Financial Reporting to maintain internal controls within accounting and accounts payable functions, providing input into updates to control documentation.


Audit, Compliance & Team Collaboration


• Assist in the execution of annual internal and external audits under the direction of the Controller and Manager - Financial Reporting.
• Promote teamwork and effective communication, supporting Winpak's TQI program, while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and SQF standards.
• Take on special projects or duties as assigned by the Director of Finance, Controller, or Manager - Financial Reporting.


Required Qualifications


• Post-secondary education in accounting (degree or completion of an equivalent program in accounting)
• 5+ years of experience in an accounting role, with a preference for experience in the manufacturing industry
• 5+ years of experience with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
• 5+ years of experience in engaging effectively within the finance and accounting team

Ability to work onsite full time


Preferred Qualifications


• 3+ years of experience with financial statement preparation
• 5+ years of experience working independently with minimal supervision, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately within tight deadlines
• 5+ years of experience demonstrating strong communication (both verbal and written), and organizational skills.
• 3+ years of experience working with ERP systems and management information systems to ensure data integrity in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.




Additional Details:


• This is a 1 year term position & the selected candidate will work 100% onsite
• The position is located at 737 Moray Street, Winnipeg, MB R3J3T3, Canada




Compensation Range: $70,000-$80,000
