Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and experienced
Accounting Analyst
to oversee and execute all day-to-day accounting functions for a growing business in construction/manufacturing sector. This position serves as a key financial resource within the business--responsible for everything from transactional accounting to month-end close--while also supporting leadership with timely financial insights. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in QuickBooks Online (QBO), managing full-cycle accounting, and implementing process improvements where needed.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Oversee and perform all day-to-day accounting activities including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, payroll entries, and journal entries
Maintain general ledger and prepare monthly trial balances
Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
Manage vendor and customer accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely payments/receipts
Track job costs, project expenses, and inventory-related entries where applicable
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
Support leadership in interpreting financial results and trends
Provide analysis on gross margins, variances, and cost control opportunities
Maintain schedules for fixed assets, prepaids, and accrued liabilities
Interface with external accountants to provide information for the year end process
Compliance & Support
Prepare documentation for year-end review or compilation engagements
Ensure compliance with government filings (HST, WSIB, payroll remittances)
Liaise with external accountant/bookkeeper where necessary
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc financial projects
Systems & Process Improvement
Maintain and optimize use of QuickBooks Online (QBO) and related apps.
Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (ideally in a small to mid-sized business)
Proficient in
QuickBooks Online
and Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle bookkeeping
Experience in construction, manufacturing, or related industries is a strong asset
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-motivation
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
