Our client in the utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Analyst for a long-term contract in Calgary. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to supporting key accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve settlement and invoicing discrepancies.
- Process wire transfers and coordinate timely customer payments.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
- Prepare electricity pool settlement statements with accurate backup.
- Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain a payment calendar to support cash-flow forecasting.
- Apply SOX controls and escalate issues as needed.
- Manage small projects and meet operational targets.
- Work with analysts to ensure accurate invoice and payment data.
- Identify and resolve complex financial issues promptly.
Requirements
- 2-5 years' experience in energy marketing, commodities trading, or power.
- Degree/diploma in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong problem-solving and accountability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration.
- Proficient in Excel for analysis and reporting.
- Experience with database queries and accounting software.
- Able to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy.
- Adaptable, growth-oriented mindset.
