We are looking for an experienced Accounting Analyst to join our team in Ajax, Ontario. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to utilize your accounting expertise and analytical skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing accounts payable processes, reconciling financial records, and supporting key financial operations.
Responsibilities:

  • Process and ensure timely payment of accounts payable invoices while maintaining accuracy.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including original, adjusting, and accrual entries, in compliance with company policies.
  • Perform account reconciliations and deliver analyses required for audits, including bank reconciliations and cash flow evaluations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address financial-related issues and provide transaction details.
  • Match and process inventory invoices to maintain accurate inventory pricing and resolve discrepancies.
  • Verify invoice accuracy against purchase orders and coordinate with the purchasing department to address variances.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts payable month-end reports, ensuring alignment with general ledger postings.
  • Maintain electronic banking information and vendor records to facilitate efficient payment processing.
  • Participate in specialized projects, system upgrades, and process documentation alongside internal teams and external consultants.
  • Provide financial insights and support to departments, assisting in problem resolution and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Requirements:
  • A three-year college diploma in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Canadian financial standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed calculations and evaluations.
  • Experience with accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with strong organization and time management skills.
  • Enrolment in, pursuit of, or completion of a Chartered Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
