Job Description


Preference will be given to qualified employees, as defined in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.Reporting to the Supervisor, Revenue, the Accounting Administrator provides operational support to the revenue and corporate accounting function. This includes entering revenue information into the accounting system and preparing and processing payments. The Accounting Administrator also provides support to the Corporate Accounting function by assisting with journal entries including uploads, account reconciliations, and fixed asset support. Other tasks would include assisting with month end closing process and providing administrative support to the Finance team. The incumbent ensures work is completed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the guidelines established by Sheridan and the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (the "Ministry").What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Partnering with the Revenue Specialist to handle the full revenue cycle, including receiving the revenue information, coding, obtaining approval, and entering the invoices/department receipts into the accounting system;
  • Assisting with questions related to the revenue team;
  • Uploading journal entries, files and transactions into the system;
  • Working with the revenue team members to resolve inquiries and investigations;
  • Maintaining records and supporting documentation, in accordance with company policy and generally accepted accounting practices;
  • Assisting in maintaining fixed asset subledger (additions & disposals), with reviewing fixed asset source documents to ensure correct account coding and with Asset Tag process;
  • Assisting in month-end and year-end closing activities and with internal and external audits;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Possess a 3-year diploma or degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in an accounting environment;
  • Experience with financial management systems, Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as experience handling cash;
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting principles is required;
  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working and communicating with all levels of staff;
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials is preferred.
