THE ROLE:
We're seeking an Accountant, Energy Marketing for a long-term (12 months +) contract. In this role, you'll support the Supervisor, Energy Marketing, by ensuring accurate and compliant accounting for energy marketing transactions. You'll handle month-end close activities, prepare journal entries and accruals, assist with financial reviews, and lead process improvement initiatives within the Finance team.
Responsibilities include:

  • Manage month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, SOX, and internal accounting standards
  • Review and analyze financial results for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and reporting packages (FRAPs) for leadership
  • Provide audit support by compiling documentation and responding to inquiries
  • Drive process improvements and support automation initiatives to enhance efficiency
  • Stay informed on IFRS updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices

Requirements:
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 + years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting and finance, including both operational and corporate accounting
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) or currently pursuing certification
  • Strong proficiency in accounting systems; experience with SAP is highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of IFRS, SOX, and accounting standards applicable to medium and large public companies
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, SUMIF, and Power Pivot
  • Familiarity with Allegro and S4 Hana implementation considered a strong asset
  • Industry experience in energy or utilities is advantageous
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
