Accountant - part-time (3 days/week)

Position Summary



Are you a detail-oriented financial professional looking to make a community impact? Do you want to use your accounting expertise to support non-profit initiatives and ensure responsible grant management? We're hiring a Part-Time Accountant to help oversee the financial integrity of a major community funding initiative.

We are seeking a Part-Time Accountant to support the financial operations of a multi-year grant allocation project. Working under the supervision of the Financial Officer, this role will assist with core accounting functions, financial reporting, budget tracking, and compliance activities.

The position also includes conducting short- and long-form financial compliance audits of funded community organizations (grantees) to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public and private funds.

Position Responsibilities



+ Assist the Project Accountant in day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger entries.

+ Track and monitor grant allocations and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding guidelines.

+ Support the preparation of financial reports for internal teams, funders, and other stakeholders.

+ Aid in the development, monitoring, and forecasting of project budgets; recommend adjustments as needed.

+ Support grantees in understanding financial requirements and assist in the collection and review of grantee financial reports.

+ Conduct financial compliance audits (both short and detailed) of grantee organizations and issue follow-up reports or recommendations.

+ Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements.

+ Help maintain audit readiness and ensure documentation meets internal and external standards.

+ Collaborate with program staff and the Lead Accountant to align financial tracking with program outcomes.

+ Participate in other financial and administrative tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications



+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

+ CPA designation or equivalent certification (or in progress) is an asset.

+ Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or grant-funded environment.

+ Experience with Sage Cloud accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

+ Familiarity with grant management and financial compliance requirements.

+ Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical and organizational skills.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially when working with grantees or non-financial staff.

Nous recrutons un(e) Comptable a temps partiel pour soutenir l'integrite financiere d'un important programme de financement communautaire.

Nous recherchons un(e) Comptable a temps partiel pour appuyer les operations financieres d'un projet de subventions pluriannuel. Sous la supervision du responsable financier, ce poste comprend la gestion des fonctions comptables de base, la production de rapports financiers, le suivi budgetaire et les activites de conformite.

Le poste inclut egalement la realisation d'audits de conformite financiere courts et detailles aupres des organismes communautaires finances (beneficiaires de subventions) afin d'assurer la transparence et la responsabilite dans l'utilisation des fonds publics et prives.

Responsabilites principales



+ Assister le comptable de projet dans les operations comptables quotidiennes, y compris les comptes a payer et a recevoir, les rapprochements et les ecritures de grand livre.

+ Suivre et controler les allocations et depenses des subventions pour assurer la conformite avec les lignes directrices de financement.

+ Soutenir la preparation des rapports financiers pour les equipes internes, les bailleurs de fonds et autres parties prenantes.

+ Aider au developpement, au suivi et aux previsions budgetaires du projet; recommander des ajustements
au besoin.

+ Soutenir les beneficiaires de subventions dans la comprehension des exigences financieres et aider a la collecte et a la revision de leurs rapports financiers.

+ Realiser des audits de conformite financiere (a court et long terme) des organismes beneficiaires et produire des rapports de suivi ou des recommandations.

+ Effectuer la conciliation des releves bancaires et des cartes de credit mensuels.

+ Participer au maintien de la preparation aux audits et veiller a ce que la documentation respecte les normes internes et externes.

+ Collaborer avec le personnel de programme et le comptable principal pour aligner le suivi financier avec les resultats des programmes.

+ Participer a d'autres taches financieres et administratives au besoin.

Connaissances, competences et qualifications



+ Baccalaureat en comptabilite, finance ou domaine connexe.

+ Designation CPA ou certification equivalente (ou en cours) est un atout.

+ Minimum de 3 a 5 ans d'experience en comptabilite, de preference dans un environnement a but non lucratif ou finance par subvention.

+ Experience avec le logiciel Sage Cloud et competences avancees en Excel.

+ Connaissance des exigences en matiere de gestion de subventions et de conformite financiere.

+ Grand souci du detail et excellentes competences analytiques et organisationnelles.

+ Capacite a travailler de maniere autonome et en equipe.

+ Solides competences interpersonnelles et en communication, particulierement lors du travail avec des beneficiaires ou du personnel non financier.

En tant qu'organisation qui offre des services en anglais, ce poste exige d'excellentes competences en redaction et en communication dans cette langue.
