This mid-level role is ideal for recent graduates pursuing their CPA designation, or individuals with foundational accounting experience in public practice who are eager to deepen their knowledge in assurance and audit. You will work closely with senior team members to support a variety of assurance engagements, assist with audit planning and execution, perform detailed testing, and contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING




A good basic understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, which could be demonstrated through experience or education. Minimum three years of relevant accounting experience. Experience in working on assurance files (audits and review engagements) would be considered an asset.

As this role is in the assurance department and will involve preparation of audit and review engagement file work and the generation of financial statements in accordance with Canadian ASPE/ASNPO primarily, preference will be given to those with prior experience in these areas.

CPA designation, or completed CFE with practical experience requirements in progress. Strong computer skills, with expertise in accounting and tax software, such as CaseWare, TaxCycle, Sage, and QuickBooks. Proficiency and excitement for learning new software and accounting concepts. The ability to learn quickly, mentor others, and provide constructive feedback. Bilingualism (French/English), which is considered an asset but not required.


WHAT YOU'LL DO




Implement and maintain accurate financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with internal controls, professional standards, and external reporting deadlines. Analyze financial statements and prepare clear, value-added financial, business, and tax recommendations for clients. Prepare and review assurance engagement files, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and all required working papers and supporting documentation. Prepare and review corporate and sales tax returns in accordance with applicable legislation. Prepare and review personal income tax returns (T1s), primarily during peak personal tax season (March-April). Complete and/or review bookkeeping tasks as needed to support client engagements. Assist with tax planning calculations and related documentation. Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues to support strong working relationships and exceptional client service. Conduct technical research related to accounting, taxation, and assurance matters as needed. Carry out other responsibilities as required to support the role and departmental needs.
