We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process payroll for staff and drivers, including mile sheets, layovers, and extra pick up and deliveries.
2. Schedule and execute payments for employees, drivers, and owner-operators.
3. Prepare and send daily invoices for customer loads and maintain organized billing records
4. Maintain daily operational records including mile sheets, layovers, pickups, and resets
5. Collect customer payments according each customer.
6. Track and update cash advances, fuel card usage, and driver personal expenses
7. Compile weekly fuel consumption reports to monitor efficiency
8. Create monthly report for company expenses related to office and operations.
9. Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including account reconciliation and journal entries
10. Prepare annual budgets forecasting expenses and profits.
11. Review, analyse, scan, and organize trip sheets with all driver's expenses in hard and soft copy.
12. Respond call and emails promptly to inquiries from drivers and owner-operators.
13. Collaborate with internal departments to gather financial data and support operations
14. Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team under a heavy workload daily.
15. Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
16. Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends.
17. Maintain accurate financial records: general ledger, balance sheets, and profit & loss statements.
18. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and performance insights.
19. Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or Diploma.
2. Previous experience as an Accountant in the Canadian trucking industry.
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
4.Proficiency in accounting software, with solid experience using
QuickBooks,
knowledge of TMS is preferred.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make recommendations.
6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
7. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
8. Good English communication skills (written and verbal), capable of presenting complex financial information clearly
9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
